If you think you've been too "nice" to people, and that you are also too "carefully" driving, then you have to be more aggressive.
I've never been on an accident since I started driving (almost 14 years ago), and I think one reason is cause I did what my grandfather told me "make other drivers respect you, your car, and your right to be driving in the street". This doesn't mean I am a careless driver or something like that, and also doesn't mean I won't get on an accident one day (hope not), but I really think it increases your chances to stay safe.
Mek others fear you, and they won't mess with you. And even more important, DO NOT TRUST ANYBODY OR ANYTHING while driving, they are ALL your enemes out there looking to kill, destroy, and make your life misserable. Think like that, and see if you get into anymore accidents or not ;)
Of course, this is just my opinion.
